God's original promise of the new covenant — He would write His law on our hearts, be our God personally, and forgive our sins completely and permanently.
The new covenant is "better" — built on better promises. The old covenant has become obsolete, replaced by this new and living way through Jesus.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. The Spirit of life has set us free from the law of sin and death.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, so that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus — received by faith.
The new covenant is not of letter but of Spirit. The old ministry brought condemnation; the new ministry of the Spirit brings righteousness and surpassing glory.
At the Last Supper, Jesus took the cup and said, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you" — the moment the new covenant was sealed.
